Mammal Characteristics 

~have hair or fur

~give birth to live young (except for platypuses and echidnas)

~nurse their young with milk

~have lungs and need air to breathe

~if they live on land, they have four legs and ears that stick out

Example: dog

~if they live in water, they have no legs

Example: whale

~are warm-blooded
